Our University is a key player, partner and neighbour in the city. Our physical estate needs to support collaboration, innovation and positive impact in ways that benefit everyone
Public access
The beauty and diversity of our campus isn’t always visible. Despite how big campus is, a lot of it is tucked away. From outside, it’s not always obvious what’s open to the public, or where the heart of campus is.
The public can already walk or cycle through campus at any time but few do. Campus functions as part of the city’s movement network, especially between Headingley, Hyde Park, and the city centre, but the wider community don’t capitalise on this.
Cultural connections
Culture draws people together. Performance, exhibitions, and creative spaces can help campus feel lively after hours and be part of Leeds’ cultural scene.
Campus already has exciting spaces for leisure, culture and innovation, and a city scale audience within walking distance. Connecting these opportunities could unlock a hub that works all day, and well into the evening.
