Campus Reimagined

Future

What if our campus was designed to evolve with us?

What if our campus was designed to evolve with us?

How can we make long-term choices that keep campus resilient and sustainable?

While we can’t predict exactly what the future holds, we can design a space that allows us to be flexible and ready for new opportunities.

Supporting climate resilience

Green spaces on campus can enhance our wellbeing – and our climate resilience. They help cool the campus, manage heavy rain, support wildlife and make everyday walks and cycle routes more enjoyable.

Potential for adaptability

This map illustrates how easily buildings on main campus could be changed. The higher the adaptability, the greater the potential of the building to accommodate changes, considering:
  • Structure, including floor to floor heights and column grid
  • Facades
  • Age and heritage significance
  • Original function and current use
  • Condition

Pedestrian priority

Today, vehicles can access the whole campus. Taxis often cut through the campus as a shortcut!

If vehicular access was more carefully managed to create a mostly pedestrian campus core, it could transform streets into spaces where people can socialise, exchange and enjoy.
