Campus Reimagined
Botanical Garden
Works began: August 2025
Estimated completion date: No later than September 2026
Brief
The Botanical Garden is one of the six ‘mini projects’ that were chosen by students and staff in a public vote in June 2025.
The vote followed hundreds of suggestions received through the Campus Reimagined Live event in February of the same year.
Over 3500 people voted and the winning projects all centre around spaces to meet, eat and relax.

Further information
A working group has been set up that includes Seb Stroud from the School of Biological Sciences who proposed the project and a cross section of teams from the Facilities Directorate, including the Sustainability and Estates teams.
A final design for the Botanical Garden has been proposed by Re-form Architecture.
In its suggested location behind the EC Stoner building, the garden will revitalise the gravelled area to create vibrant greenspace for learning, research, community, and reflection.
Staff and students attended a series of workshops to shape the next stage of development.
Drawing on feedback from these workshops, the team is refining a mission, vision, and long-term plan for the Botanical Garden ahead of works beginning on campus.
Project timeline
The works began in August 2025 and are due for completion no later than September 2026.
